Interview with the great Hair Stylist Genesis

Hello Genesis and welcome to West Side Hair Color. First off we wanted to congratulate you on having your hair clients appear in the latest issue of Time Out Magazine (put link to photo here). Dante Russo, writer and actor from Washington Heights who has the website webisode series http://www.wienerandwiener.com about the misadventures of a New York City hot dog vendor.

GENESIS: Thanks, Dante is a lot of fun and is part of the inspiration for my new hair trend for the new season called “Fun, Comfortable and Artistic”.

WSHC: Yes, tell us about your hair trend for the new season.

GENESIS: Right now in my own life and I know probably in that of others, I enjoy experiencing being fun and comfortable. That's what I was striving for with the hair styles I created for my models. Also, bringing in a little of artistic color helps to accent the fun.

WSHC: With your first model, the young lady with the curly hair, what was your creative objective?

GENESIS: She came to me with darker hair. I felt with the new season her look needed some natural sunlight – a lightening. So I created highlights and new tones to make a natural look that she could have fun with and be comfortable.

WSHC: What kind of hair care tips would you give to a client with curls such as her?

GENESIS: Because she has curly hair I would recommend the Dramatics NYC product called “Idol Maker”. This product is used to bring out the curls soft and nice – not stiff. Again, the theme of comfortable.

WSHC: And Dramatics NYC is the company you work for, right?

GENESIS: Yes, Dramatics is a very special 9 location salon chain in Manhattan. I am a stylist at the 57th Street location which is how you guys found me.

WSHC: Yes, we scour for talent in midtown for West Side Hair New York. Dramatics NYC combines entertainment with style.

GENESIS: Yes, the founder is an actor and a stylist himself.

WSHC: And speaking of entertainment and style, you are premiering a new video aren't you?

GENESIS: Yes, a video of my work and featuring shots from the comfortable/fun/artistic hair trend. The young man who is my male model is featured in the video. He was recently in a Pepe Jeans commercial so having him in my promo puts me in good company.
(laughs)
For him I did a haircut and style. His lifestyle which includes modeling and other things, required maintenance to be easy. Also, because part of what he does for a living requires him to look good, I went with a modern and classic look.

WSHC: Your third model, the one with the red and black hair, she's also in show business I hear.

GENESIS: Yes. Her name is Wilma Garcia, she's a makeup artist. For her I created a contrasting look in which I juxtaposed red and black color. She's a very artistic person so a cut, color and style from my comfortable/fun/artistic hair trend is a perfect fit. Also when doing her cut I wanted to give her a stylish look with dimension.

WSHC: Tell me more about the promotion you're doing right now that has to do with signing up for your free online newsletter. Correct if I'm wrong but they then get an email automatically sent to them which in turn they click on the confirmation link to confirm their email?
